An allegorical play on the theme of ecology and saving Mother Earth. Patterned after the Filipino theatre tradition Moro-Moro, a style of play popular in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial period, depicting battles between Christians and Muslims.
Characters and Cast: The characters are inspired by Filipino folklores: Haring Araw is the lead role, portrayed by special guest artist, Filipino tenor Miguel Castro; Haring Daluyong is FILCCA and FCCWA President, Dante Maribbay; Mrs. Chit Bloubin is Inang Pagmamahal; Angelita Jongko is Inang Kalikasan; Cielo Waghorne is Lady Kinara; Paz Pobre is Reyna Luningning; Jade Roberts is the semi-goddess Alunsina; Enrico Navarrete is Prinsipe Bantugan; Belinda Barba Monaghan is Inang Bathala; Arturo Soriano is “Prinsipe Manaul; Gabriel Bubz is “ Prinsesa Bungisngis” and Chelsea Sepe is Prinsesa Pasatsat. The Narrator is the Diwata, played by Mrs. Cielo Franklin. The Western Crew Dance Group completed the cast.
Synopsis: Revolves around the Silangan Kingdom of Haring Araw. and his love for Inang Kalikasan, who was tempted by the Kanluran king, Haring Daluyong to join him and become his wife. Inang Kalikasan rebuked him instead and professed the radiance of her love for Haring Araw. Jilted, Haring Daluyong plotted revenge and kidnapped Haring Araw, bringing destruction upon the Silangan Kingdom. Inang Kalikasan begged the mercy of the Goddess of Love, Inang Pagmamahal and asked her help to rescue and bring her love back to life.With words of caution and wisdom, Inang Pagmamahal granted her prayers and brought Peace and Love to the Kingdom of Silangan once again, and they lived happily ever after.
Heal Our Land was written and directed by Mr Benny Chan, Artistic Director of PETAWA (Philippine Educational Theatre Artist of Western Australia ) Incorporated, as part of the Non-profit t Community Theatre group’s 3rd Anniversary presentation. The play premiered on 13th May, 2017 at Bob Daniel Community Hall Inglewood WA.
