Message
On the 12th of June 2017, the Filipino Australian Club of the Perth Inc joins the citizens of the Philippines and the Filipino migrants scattered all over the world in celebrating the 119th anniversary of the declaration of the Philippines as a nation. It is also the time when we reflect on the courage and heroism of the men and women who fiercely fought for our freedom from foreign domination.
This year, the theme is “Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin” translated to English – “Together We Make Changes Happen” which is very apt to the events unfolding in the Philippines. In our thrust towards these changes we should always remember the aspirations of our heroes for Filipinos to always be free from any bondage.
As migrants in our adopted country who has generously embraced us and given us the same freedom that our forefathers have envisioned for all Filipinos, we have the obligation to preserve this freedom by being good citizens and residents of this great nation – Australia.
May I also take this opportunity to thank the members of the Executive Committee and this year’s Working Committee of the FACPI Philippine Independence Day Celebration who worked so hard to make this event a big success. My gratitude, likewise, goes to all our sponsors and friends in the community, without their continued support this event will not be possible.
