Kings Park was transformed into a wonderland in February. At sundown, the trees came alive to tell a story. It was an amazing display of magically crafted images, set to light and sound.
The visually mesmerising event underscored the inter- connectedness of all life, in both its beauty and its fragility — from flocks of birds, frolicking fish, playful animals and blooming wildflowers to bushfires and rainstorms.
This immersive walk-through experience followed a winding 1.2 km trail through to the botanic garden. Along the way, spectators saw the traditional six seasons of south-west Western Australia come to life, wherein two ‘creation’ stories were depicted, exploring knowledge systems from Nyoongar and Western perspectives.
The show was created for the 2017 Perth International Arts Festival.
