Mandurah Filipino Sports Club Inc @ 5 Years

Mandurah Filipino Sports Club Incorporated has come a long way from its humble beginnings, from a relatively small and unheard of group until 2013 when Carolina Allen was elected as the President of the Club. She led the team of 15 Committee members and changed the Club for the better.

In the last 5 years, MFSCI held numerous Basketball and Volleyball Leagues both local and invitational. It has participat- ed in 4 (WAPIFC) WA Pinoy Invitational Friendship Cup and also competed at FACPI Fiesta games. It was the only Club which was invited to compete at the first Kwinana Sports Festival in 2015.

At MFSCI, we are not just about sports. We are also actively involved and participated in Community events and festival. Volunteered during the Ironman competition and helped clean on Australia Day. We assisted a Mandurah couple and family member of the Club raised some much needed funds for CDH Australia, a not for profit organization supporting families of children born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. We also helped our Gawad Kalinga Youth Ambassador raised funds for GK projects in the Philippines.

MFSCI celebrated its 5th year anniversary on the 15th of July 2016 at AC-CENT Mandurah where we honoured MFSCI most outstanding members for their invaluable support and participation since the formation of the Club.

Most Outstanding Couple Award went to Joseph and Lovell Penalba. They are the backbone of the Club since 2011. They are always there to lend a hand whenever possible. Joseph is back in the Committee as Vice Chairman and Chairperson of Sports in the next 12 months. Most Outstanding Family Member Award went to the Gamboa Family. Chris coach the MFSCI Volleyball team while Fe is doing fundraising for the Club through selling food during the games and their two daughters, Mia and Krisa are both active Volleyball players.

Most Outstanding Young Member Award went to Nicole Soriano. Nicole captained her Volleyball team. She is an active leader of the Gods Young Army at Assumption Catholic Church here in Mandurah. Nicole just came back from her historical and memorable trip to the World Youth Day in Poland.

What’s next for MFSCI? Well, we will continue to promote Sports as an enjoyable and healthy activity within the community and to foster sociability among its members, to encourage the young ones to reach their full potential whether on or off the court and continue our active participation in other sporting tournaments and community events.

MFSCI might not be rich in terms of money but we are rich in human resources. We are never short of volunteers because we are like-minded people who are here for the benefit of all.
