The association was established in 2006 through the encouragement and support of Marino Salinas of FACPI, and has been active in various activities such as civic, sports, religious, social and cultural. The association is led by 2-termer President, Edilberto Montano.
A fund raising campaign in 2014/2015 was undertaken by the association which included basketball games for the benefit of Cancer Council WA, supported by Pastor Ricky Niere of New Life Filipino Australian Community Church – Perth and Marino Salinas. The fund
raising was also a tribute to the late ROAN MAE ATIENZA.
The Champions
Albany Filipino Community Basketball Team, champion in invitational basketball men’s open division and undefeated 5 times in a row against other WA Filipino teams. Among the wins were a 2-year consecutive championship won during the 2014 and 2015 Perth Grand Fiesta Games.
The team has Joseph Santia Sr. as Coach, Ramil Paragoso (AFAAInc.PRO) Captain Ball and John Santia as MVP.
