Gabriel ‘Flash’ Elorde – Boxing

. ‘Flash’ Elorde was a Filipino professional boxer from Cebu. Elorde was a World Junior Lightweight Champion from 1960 to 1967. A WBC and WBA champion, he is recorded as holding the junior lightweight division record for longest title reign. Elorde is con- sidered as one of the greatest junior lightweight champion in history and one of the best Filipino boxers of all-time along with eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and Pancho Villa, flyweight champion in the 1920s. He was much loved in the Philippines as a sports and cultural icon.

Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno – Bowling.

. Paeng Nepomuceno is a six- time World Bowling Cup champion. He has won the World Cup four times (1976, 1980, 1992 and 1996). Nepomuceno has also won the World’s Invitational Tournament in 1984 and the World Tenpin Masters cham- pionship in 1999. He is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.Paeng holds 130 career bowling titles and is the only bowling athlete in the world who has received the prestigious IOC President’s Trophy. His name appears in the International Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum based in Arlington, Texas where his image is displayed at the Museum’s entrance. In 1999, the FIQ named Paeng “International Bowling Athlete of the Milennium.”

Eugenio Torre – Chess.

Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes – Professional Pool.

Efren Reyes, dubbed ‘The Magician’, winner of over 70 international titles, is the first man in history to win World Championships in 2 different disciplines in pool. He is also a 14-time Derby City Classic champion, 2-time World Cup champion, and 2-time World Pool League champion. He defeated Earl Strickland in the inaugural Color of Money event in 1996, a 3-day race-to-120 challenge match of 9-ball. Reyes won the match 120-117.
