Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority announces that Barrack Street Jetty will be open for business throughout the summer months and access will be retained at all times.

Works to revitalise Barrack Street Jetty have recently been completed, including a new decked event space and water feature in front of the Bell Tower.

Signature Ring is a collaborative effort by local artists Simon Gauntlett and Matthew Ngui. It reflects a headphone-shaped design featuring fibre optics that illuminate interactive panels representing the passage of time from 2000 to the present.

School signatures return to Barrack Street Jetty

Culture and the Arts Minister John Day recently unveiled a new public artwork at Barrack Street Jetty titled Signature Ring.

The Signature Ring artwork reinterprets 200,000 signatures of school students collected across Western Australia in 1999 as part of the millennium celebrations.

Mr Day said the artwork had been brought to life by a great many people dedicated to seeing this part of social history preserved for future generations.

The remarkable sculpture is the creation of local artists Matthew Ngui and Simon Gauntlett, made possible by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority with the support of the Rotary Club of Perth and Lotterywest.
