Independence Day Observance.
Winter then got busy with activities for the observance annual Philippine Independence Day celebrations. Damayang Filipino and Filipino Australian Multicultural Association (FAMAS) held simultaneous celebrations on the evening of 13th June. Damayan at The Rise in Maylands celebrated “Kalayaan 2015”; while FAMAS, at The Macedonian Community Centre in North Perth, bannered as a theme, “Working together for a better community”. The Filipino Australian Club of Perth Inc (FACPI) held the premier event at Crown Perth on the 19th of June, advocating “Pilipinas Lupang Sinilangan… Duyan ng Kabayanihan… Sa Tuwina Ikaw ay Mamahalin at Di Kailanman Tatalikdan”
(Philippines, Land of our Birth…Cradle of Heroism… You Will Forever Be Loved and Never Forsaken). Southwest Australian Filipino Association Inc (SAFAI) in Bunbury chanted “Kalayaan Ko, Isasayaw Ko” for their dinner dance the following night, 20th June.
